Frontier Touring and Chugg Entertainment are excited to bring five-time Grammy Award- winning composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier and his DJESSE WORLD TOUR to New Zealand this December.

“I am stegosaurusally excited to be returning to one of the most spectacular parts of the world for some uproarious music-making. It’s been three years since I’ve visited, and I am delighted to be returning. Woooooooooooo!”

The tour will see Jacob take the stage performing music from Djesse; a first of its kind four- volume, 50-song collection comprised of various classical-jazz-funk numbers that blend musical genres and defy all expectations. The project has been in the works for at least four years, with the first three records each earning critical acclaim, as well as multiple award wins and nominations. The final chapter, Djesse Vol. 4, remains shrouded in mystery with Collier keeping tight lipped on what fans can expect.

The first album in the series, Djesse Vol. 1 (2018), peaked at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart and has been likened to the musical stylings of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and American producer and rapper J Dilla. He released three tracks as singles, including ‘With the Love in My Heart’, ‘Ocean Wide, Canyon Deep’ and ‘All Night Long’, which won Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

The follow up record Djesse Vol. 2 (2019) includes singles ‘Make Me Cry’, a “Jacobean / dodic rendition” of The Beatles ‘Here Comes the Sun (feat. Dodie)’, ‘It Don’t Matter’ and ‘Moon River’, which won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella. The track opens with a perfectly harmonised choir composed of 144 famous musicians, Collier’s past colleagues, professors, managers and even his immediate family, which makes for a deeply personal touch.

His most recent album Djesse Vol. 3 (2020) was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards, with the track ‘He Won’t Hold You (feat. Rapsody)’ earning the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocal. ‘All I Need with Mahalia & Ty Dolla $ign’ also received a nomination for Best R&B Performance, which he exemplified with a live performance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Other collaborations include ‘Never Gonna Be Alone (feat. Lizzy McAlpine & John Meyer’, ‘❤ Coldplay X We Are KING X Jacob Collier’, ‘Time Alone With You ft. Daniel Caeser’, plus many more.
