Broadcast icon signs off

Friday 24 November 2023

Every few years we farewell a broadcaster who has graced our airwaves and lives seemingly forever. Kim Hill joins this list of alumini. Radio New Zealand shared this message ahead of her final show this weekend.

"It’s time to say haere rā to a national icon - broadcasting great Kim Hill. This weekend she will sign off from hosting Saturday Morning with Kim Hill.

She joined us in 1985 and has delighted audiences with her rapier intelligence and wit ever since.
Her final show runs from 8am until Midday on Saturday, with guests including Tim Minchin, Adrian Edmondson, Richard Flanagan and Kim herself is playing favourites.

The programme will be live streamed on rnz.co.nz as well as the regular broadcast on RNZ National. The following day she will appear on Sunday Morning with Jim Mora to discuss her remarkable career.
This isn’t the last we’ll hear from Kim – while she’s finishing up on Saturday Morning, she is expected to return to RNZ for a series of in-depth interviews next year. Thank you Kim – we’ll hear from you soon."
