Come and learn Taupo artist Sally-Ann Davies’ 'Painterly Woodcut Printing' process - How to apply the ink and the carving techniques involved in creating coloured woodcut prints.
‘I use this technique in my own work to add an impressionistic style to my prints, by doing so, each print has its own originality. No two prints are the same.’
1. Create a simple registration board for your print
2. Transfer the image to the plate
3. Apply the ink to the woodblock
4. Create an impressionistic style of printmaking
5. Printing the colour you have applied to the woodblock to paper
6. Carving the wood to add the detail of your image to your prints
7. Printing the key block on to your coloured prints – That is your image e.g. the lines and shapes that create your design.
